Harry Potter Licorice Wands

These Harry Potter Licorice Wands dipped in chocolate help to celebrate the magic of our trip to Universal Orlando! They are a great treat to make for Harry Potter birthday party or any event that includes magic.

Harry Potter Licorice Wands Recipe

We are counting down the days until we head to Universal Studios in Florida.  I am of the belief that getting ready to go is half the fun!  In prepping the kiddos for magic wands at Harry Potter World #UniversalOrlando we did a few fun things.  To kick off the conversation about our plans to shop at Ollivander’s Wand Shop, I prepared a yummy snack.   This conversation included finances and allowance so I felt sweet treats were in order.

How to make Harry Potter licorice wands:

I made them with chocolate licorice.

I dipped them in melted white chocolate and then SPRINKLES!  Ten minutes in the refrigerator and they were READY.

They make me want to have a party!  If you like the printed label on the glass container and want it, I added it to the printable crossword puzzle that you can grab later in this post.

The magic is that these can be made in so many colors. They would be fun to make in the house colors as a sorting hat activity.

Okay, back to this allowance and money earning conversation.  Jordan wants TWO wands.  She is a huge Luna Lovegood fan and in the online test was chosen to be in Ravenclaw.  The breakdown is that she ALSO wants an interactive wand to use in the parks.  We agreed to buy her ONE.  She came up with a plan.  She also informed me that the wand I made her when she was five is for fairies…NOT real magic.  Well, okay then!  We are working with her to reach her goal and have extra to spend in the other SEVEN shops in Harry Potter World alone that she has on her twelve year old list.

She and Zoe both painted ceramic “banks” to save their money in until we go.  While Jordan is all about Ravenclaw, Zoe is a Gryffindor girl.  I fired them in the kiln and LOVE them so much.  They will have them to go with the memories of this trip to a lifetime.

The magic wands were a huge hit!

To refresh our memories from the books and movies about wands and magic, I created a crossword puzzle.  I thought you might want it too so here you go.  You can download it FREE HERE and use it to brush up on your knowledge.

Best Ways to Use Free Printables

You might have seen this list from me before but I think it is worth sharing over and over. Sometimes the people in the back need to hear things a few times, right?  There are so many great ways to use free printables.  Here are some of my favorites.

  • Print them and mail in an envelope with a stamp. Snail mail rocks.
  • Batch some up to make an activity book.  This is great for a road trip!
  • Print and use at a place setting on the table to create a conversation starter.
  • Add them to goody bags.  By the way, goody bags are not just for birthday parties.
  • Package them up with your favorite markers and crayons to give as a gift.
  • Drop a few off at the local coffee shop with fun pencils to spread some happy.
  • Cut them up to make cards, gift wrap and decorations.

BEST Tools For Working With Free Printables

These are my favorite tools and art supplies to use with free printables and why I love them too.

  1. Printer – This Laser Printer is inexpensive and works like a charm.  It even works with Alexa.  Bonus!
  2. Scissors – Lots of printables can be cut up to create decorations and cards and things like that.
  3. Markers and Crayons – All thing ooly work the best for me.  I LOVE all of their markers, pencils and crayons.
  4. Colored Pencils – For adult coloring, PRISM makes the colored pencils that I love to use most.
  5. Twine – For creating banners and garlands from printables, I love this twine best.
  6. Adhesive – Lots of printables have pieces that get cut out and put together.  This is my fave tape runner!

Cheers to Magical Wands and All Things Harry Potter,

Laura
